Trout Challenge Fishermen at Crystal Basin Lakes
The Crystal Basin needs consistently cooler temperatures to kick trout action into higher gear – anglers will catch fish, but as for limits, they are few and far between.
Matt at Georgetown Ace Hardware reported slow action across many lakes. “Out of all the lakes in the area, Loon Lake seems to be reporting the best action – with flashers and crawlers leading the way. Union Valley has produced a few trout for angler efforts – but no reported limits; some anglers have reported getting into mackinaw in the dam area at Union Valley.”
“Stumpy Meadows is producing trout, but they have a pretty bad copepod problem that keeps anglers less than eager for keeping the fish,” he noted.
Gavin at Sly Park Resort reported decent rainbow action at the Narrows on Jenkinson Lake. “Anglers have reported two limits of trout picked up by trollers at the Narrows. A recent plant has bank action active near the second dam – anglers will have to toss their bait to deeper water to find the fish.”
John Wadden at Will Fish Bait and Tackle reported tough low-water conditions at Hell Hole and French Meadows.Back To Reports
