Trout Fishing Ignites With Cooler Nights
Temperatures are getting down into the 20s and 30s at night at Frenchman Lake. The lake is starting to turn over and the rainbows are feeding.
“We have had several reports of good shore fishing by anglers using nightcrawlers near the dam and Turkey Point,” reported Richard Wiggin of Wiggin’s Trading Post.
“Due to the government shutdown, we have been receiving conflicting information regarding camping and fishing at Frenchman Lake. Camp and fish at your own discretion,” he added.
Jeanne Graham at the J&J Grizzly Store and Camping Resort said the Lake Davis level is at 69% and trout fishing is going strong.
“Our campground is open,” she stated. “However, currently all boat ramps and all Forest Service campgrounds are closed. We will post boat ramp updates as we get them.”
Boaters are doing best while trolling Dick Nites in copper red head, pearl hot head, or anything with pink. Fly fishermen are hooking robust rainbows from Jenkins to Freeman creek while using Burnt orange, Rust and Olive wiggle tail, sheep creek, and snails. Bank fishermen are using worms with a marshmallow at Fairview Point to entice their fish.Back To Reports
