Trout Plants Should Boost Fishing
The Department of Fish and Wildlife made its first rainbow trout plants of the season at Scotts Flat and Rollins Lakes the week of October 7 and fishing should pick up soon.
On a trip to Scotts Flat I made on October 8, anglers were sparse and the one angler I talked to hadn’t caught any fish. However, the plant and the cooling water temperature should yield increasing catches of rainbows for shore fishermen and boaters.
Boaters should troll with minnow imitation lures and nightcrawlers behind flashers and dodgers, while bank fishermen should employ PowerBait, Pautzke salmon eggs and nightcrawlers.
Rollins trout fishing should also be on the upswing for trollers and bank fishermen, though no current reports were available at press time. Fall is also a good time for fishermen fish drop shot rigs, Senkos, crankbaits and other lures for smallmouth, spotted and largemouth bass.Back To Reports
