The action is absolutely wide open for charter boat enthusiasts departing from East Bay ports. Striper fishing is excellent, halibut action is holding steady, rockfish are providing limit style fishing and plenty of quality lingcod are showing.
“We headed out yesterday and enjoyed killer potluck action,” exclaimed Captain James Smith of California Dawn Sportfishing. “We had 24 limits of rockfish, 2 cabezon to 8 pounds, 12 lings to 20 pounds, 4 halibut to 25 and 25 stripers to 15 pounds. The fishing has been incredible and I think it is only going to get better.”
On the same day, the Happy Hooker, skippered by Captain Jim Smith, stacked up 32 limits of rockfish, 29 lings to 25 pounds, and 18 striped bass to 11-pounds.
Captain Chris Smith of Captain Hook Sportfishing has been focusing on live bait fishing inside the bay and has been landing consistent limits of stripers along with plenty of bonus halibut.
Captain Joe and Joey Gallia of New Easy Rider Sportfishing in Berkeley have been focused on salmon. When the conditions are good they’ve been scoring from 1.5 fish per rod to limits. When they aren’t chasing kings, they’ve been in the bay pounding stripers and halibut.
In Emeryville, the New Huck Finn, Sea Wolf and Tiger Fish headed out for rockfish over the weekend and ended up with a combined total of 784 rockfish and 119 lingcod to 16-pounds for 84 fishermen.Back To Reports
