You can now sign up for the $50,000 Mother Lode Shootout. Repeat, rules and sign up forms are now up and you can reserve your spot in California’s richest trout and salmon derby!

There’s been a lot of buzz about the Motherlode Shootout among northern and central California trout and salmon anglers with one of the main topics being when and where could anglers sign up to be part of the event?

Well, the time is now and the place is either the Fish Sniffer website at fishsniffer.com or on Kokanee Power’s website at kokaneepower.org. If you really want to speed things up, give Kokanee Power president Gary Coe a call on his direct line and he’ll get you all squared away, (916) 985-4943.

For the folks out there that haven’t heard about the Motherlode Shootout, here’s the low down. The two day Mother Lode Shoot Out will take place on March 30 - April 1, 2012 and will be headquartered at the Jackson Rancheria Casino and Hotel.

The Shootout will utilize a team tournament format and a total combined weight of salmon and trout over the two days will determine the winners. Each team will weigh three total fish on both tournament days. The fish can be any combination of trout, kings or kokanee.

Both boat and bank anglers are welcome to participate in this event. Anglers can choose to fish at one or more of the following lakes: Lake Pardee, Lake Camanche, New Melones Reservoir, Don Pedro Reservoir or Lake Tulloch.

The winning team is guaranteed $5,000 and the tournament will pay down 25 spots, with the MINIMUM cash award being $500. That’s right you finish back 25 spots and you still take home $500!

In addition to the derby pot, there will be a tagged trout released at a random location the week of the event. You catch that trout while competing in the tournament and you walk away with $25,000!

On the evening of Friday March 30th there is a mandatory meeting at Jackson Rancheria that at least one representative from each team must attend to go over the rules for the event (to read the rules go to kokaneepower.org and search under “derbies”) and receive the team’s Team Card. This Friday mixer will feature plenty of snacks and will allow the anglers to meet their fellow competitors.

There will also be a zero cost slot tournament on Friday evening exclusive to competitors that will pay out $4,000 in cold hard cash. That’s right you don’t need any money to buy in and you won’t have to drop a penny into the slots, but you still stand to take home a share of $4,000 just for being a participant in the derby! The top spot in the slot tournament will net a cool $1,000 and the event will pay down several spots.

On Saturday night all competitors are invited to a complementary dinner at Jackson Rancheria that promises to provide great eating and plenty of fun for all. Entry fees for the Shootout will be $150 per person. Lodging will be available at Jackson Rancheria at a special discounted rate and offsite lodging has also been secured in the town of Jackson a few minutes from the casino. RV spaces are also available and the casino will provide secure boat parking for folks lodging at Jackson Rancheria.

If you enjoy trout and salmon fishing and get excited by the prospect of competing for a chunk of a big dollar prize package sign up for the Mother Lode Shootout now!

Once again you can sign up by click on the above registration form link or visiting Kokanee Power’s website at kokaneepower.org. Or you can call Kokanee Power president Gary Coe at, (916) 985-4943.
