Women Of The Fishing World

Hi folk's! I don't see many articles written about women in the fishing industry. I truly believe that women have made a remarkable contribution to the sport of fishing. Women and fishing just naturally go together - always have and probably always will.
Granted, our early female ancestors may have outwitted our finny prey while using nets and spears instead of hooks and lines, but fish they did.
Through history or maybe it should be termed " herstory", the first outdoor writer, Dame Juliana Berners was an English noblewoman. Now enters Lyla Faggia. Her book is a result of her intense dedication to angling and her commitment to raising public awareness of the unique contributions of women to this fascinating sport. Fagia's book is called Reel Women: The World of Women Who fish".
So many women - so many accomplishments. Other than the tamed A.J. McLane who explored South America's jungle streams and lakes in search of rare fish, there are other names on the list that may be more recognized as Sue Stalzman, the first woman to win the gruelling World Cup Blue Marlin Championship with a 654 pound fish. It was only a matter of time before women anglers everywhere took notice. Among the first was Sugar Ferris, founder of Bass'n Gals, a visionary who believed it was fashionable to do so, and pioneers such as Bojai Reed, the first woman to fish a Bass Master Invitational Tournament, and Freeda Lee and Linda England, the first women to tour on the Bass Master Tournament Trail.
